Why You Should Install Ductless Air in Your Garage

Some people use a garage to park their cars…now there’s a novel idea. And, in such cases, various tools and other items are neatly tucked away or hung on the walls.

At the other extreme, garages are often used as combination storage space and junk heap. “Hey, what do we do with this gift from Aunt Helen?”  “Uh, well, put it in the garage for now and we’ll figure it out later.”

Is that it? Not by a long shot, because garages also can be used to store antique cars and other valuable possessions that don’t really fit anywhere else. Plus, it’s often the kind of stuff that can suffer from extreme temperatures, winter or summer.

Let’s Cut to the Chase

While there are numerous ways to heat and cool a garage, none is more effective or practical than a ductless air system. These are anchored by one or more outside condensing units, each of which is connected to up to five wall-blowers. It’s the latter that distribute conditioned air according to the temperatures you enter on the system’s remote control device.

While a ductless system is protecting your ’66 Corvette, for example, it’s also lessens indoor humidity and, in the winter, preventing pipes from freezing. On days with moderate temperatures, simply turn it off, open the garage doors and windows, and allow some fresh air to circulate.

Or, let’s say there are no antique cars or other collectibles to protect. How else can a garage ductless air system come in handy? How about to help make a year-round workshop infinitely more practical. Or as an added space for large family gatherings? Maybe that’s even where you wash and dry your clothes. Lots of possibilities, and all with the same great solution.

Detached or unattached, it would cost a pretty penny to connect your garage to your home’s current heating and cooling systems, assuming they could even handle the extra load.
